For the things you'd actually say
Answer one question. Meet the stranger who answered it too.
Yap shows you a single prompt. Your answer stays sealed until someone else answers the same one — then you both see both, and you can talk. No profiles to scroll. No feed. Just what two people actually said.

You've been matched
Someone answered the same prompt, without seeing yours.
Real Talk
What does “home” actually mean to you?
They wrote
The kitchen at 1am when everyone else is asleep and the fridge is humming.
How it works
- 1
Pick a mood
Each lane has one live question at a time. Choose how you're feeling, not who you want to meet.
- 2
It stays sealed
Nobody sees your answer — not even people who answered first — until someone else answers the same question.
- 3
Then you both see both
You're matched, both answers are revealed, and you can talk. A conversation closes on its own a day after it starts, unless you both choose to keep it.
Eight lanes, one question each
You choose the lane. The question comes after — everyone in a lane gets the same one, which is what makes a match happen fast. A few more lanes open only for a while, like New Year.
Hot Take
Pick a side. Someone else picked the other one.
Backbench
Classes, canteens and group projects. Then or now.
9 to 5
Meetings, managers and the commute home.
Hearts
Crushes, exes, best friends and everyone in between.
Real Talk
Honest, not heavy.
Rant
Petty is allowed here.
Sports
Cricket, football, F1 and every hill fans die on.
Late Night
Open while you're up. Different kind of question.
Open 11pm–5am, your time
Built to be calm, on purpose
Words before faces
Strangers never see your name or picture. Those appear only for friends — someone you both chose to keep talking to.
No feed, no scroll
One question per lane, live at a time. There's nothing to scroll through and nothing to fall into.
Chats end on their own
A conversation closes a day after it starts. Nobody has to leave, and nobody is told who left them.
No read receipts
No 'seen', no 'online', no last-active. Silence isn't something done to you here.
Friends, if you both want it
If you both tap 'Keep it open', the conversation stays — and only then do names and pictures appear.
No streaks, no scores
No counts of people talked to, no badges for coming back. You come back when you want to.
Safety, built in
Talking to strangers should feel safe to start and easy to stop.
Leave, block, report
Any conversation, any time. Blocking means you're never matched again. A person reads every reported conversation.
Verified by a person
A Verified badge means someone checked a selfie against the profile picture by eye. The selfie is deleted after.
Filtered before it's sent
Answers and messages are screened for contact details and abuse before anyone sees them.
18+ only
Everywhere, with no exceptions.
Questions
Is this a dating app?
No. You're matched on an answer to the same question, not on looks or a profile. Plenty of conversations are just a good conversation.
Who can see my name and picture?
Only friends — people you share a conversation with where you both tapped 'Keep it open'. Everyone else sees whether you're verified, and nothing more.
How long does a conversation last?
It closes on its own a day after it starts. If you both choose to keep it, it stays open with no deadline.
What does 'Verified' mean?
That a person compared a selfie taken in the app with the profile picture and saw the same person. It isn't an ID check, and it doesn't say anything about age.
Is it free?
Yes. There are no ads, and your data isn't sold.
Is there an iPhone app?
Not yet — Yap is on Android for now.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: You → Delete account. Without the app, see the Delete your account page linked below.
